Người Pháp, người Mỹ hãnh diện với những Petit Larousse, Petit Littré hay Webster, American Heritage không cồng kềnh như các bộ từ điển bách khoa, chỉ khoảng hai ngàn trang mà đầy đủ và chính xác, lẽ nào Việt Nam không có một cuốn từ điển cho đầy đủ dùng được cho toàn quốc, cả hai miền Nam, Bắc.
