Takes just a couple seconds.

There are two ways to do this, depending upon your preferences. Both require that you delete what remains of the original image code. Then insert the images again and make the following changes in Edit HTML mode:
For the first method just delete both "span" tags. Instead of span - a - img - /a - /span you need to make it a - img - /a like below. If you aren't comfortable with deleting any code use the second method.

<a href="URL of large photo">
<img border="0" class="alignmiddleb" src="URL and properties of small photo shown in blog">
</a>

This method also removes the image from the blog description in the Blogs itembox on your homepage and also from table view if you use that setting on your Blogs page.
Or, change the order of the "a" and "span" tags so the tag sequence is a - span - img - /span - /a like below.

< a href="URL of large photo">
<span class="insertedphoto">>
<img border="0" class="alignmiddleb" src="URL and properties of small photo shown in blog">
</span>
</a>

This method should leave the image in the blog description in the Blogs itembox on your homepage and also in table view if you use that setting on your Blogs page.

This method leads to the following image
